Elephants

There are three species of elephant:

  1. African Savannah elephant

  2. African Forest elephant

  3. Asian elephant

Elephant facts

  • Elephants are the largest land animal in the world

  • Elephant tusks never stop growing. Old elephants have ENORMOUS tusks

  • An elephant spends 12 to 18 hours eating every day

  • All that eating means each elephant drops a tonne of poo every week!

Elephants can get sunburnt in the hot sun. After a swim they throw mud and sand over themselves to protect their skin.
